If you’re new to the area, thinking about buying a house in Tampa Bay or simply haven’t gotten around to experiencing everything we have to offer, the holiday season is the perfect time to be a tourist in your own hometown. There’s always something happening here, and you’ll find fun for all ages during the winter holidays.
Ice Skating in Tampa Bay
The Shops at Wiregrass, one of the area’s most popular shopping destinations, brings the North Pole home with synthetic ice skating. Between November 13 and January 3, shoppers can take a break for a little fun (and exercise). Your $10 admission includes skate rental.
While you’re there, don’t miss their spectacular light show, “Symphony in Lights,” which is set to seasonal music. Dancing lights, festive décor and snow will delight your senses four times nightly through New Year’s Eve. Best of all, this holiday favorite is free to the public.
Heading downtown? Curtis Hixon Park features an outdoor rink, open through January 4. Ice skating costs $5 and includes skates.
Holiday Lights in the Florida Botanical Gardens
From November 27 through December 31, take your family on a stroll through the Florida Botanical Gardens. With over 750,000 lights, animated figures, lasers and even live entertainers, you’re sure to enjoy the gardens in their holiday splendor. You’ll pay a $4 admission fee for adults, while kids 13 and under are free. Rumor has it that Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there on select nights, too.
The International Plaza’s Ice Palace
A 30-foot dome with a light show, snow and scenes from the new Peanuts movie combine to make the International Plaza’s 2015 Ice Palace delightful for all ages. Enjoy interactive entertainment during the holiday festivities, which begin November 6 and run through Christmas Eve.
