Located in Hillsborough County—one of the largest counties in Florida—Riverview is part of the Tampa Bay Area. There’s always something to do or see here, too, which makes it an excellent place to live.

Bell Creek Nature Preserve

Riverview is perhaps best known for his 597-acre nature reserve, which is home to flatwoods, scrub, grassland, and sandhill habitats. Bell Creek is home to an endangered wildflower known as the Florida golden aster (Chrysopsis floridana). There are areas designated for holding picnics with your friends and family, and you can embark on a hiking adventure on the reserve’s five-mile trail.

Alafia River

It was along the northern shore of this 25-mile-long river where Riverview was founded. It includes a watershed that comprises 10 lakes and ponds, as well as 29 rivers, streams, and canals. Part of the river flows into Alafia River State Park, which is the epicenter of activities and amenities that includes bicycling, fishing, horse trails, picnicking areas, and camping facilities.

Peru

To the south of the Alafia River is Peru, which was one of the oldest settlements in central Florida. In the 1940s, Riverview absorbed it. However, you can still see a few of the houses that had survived from the nineteenth century. Indeed, the Alafia River gets its name, which means “River of Fire,” from the phosphorus that a company mined at Peru.
