4 tips for selling your home during winter

Selling a home during the winter months is a bit different from selling it during summer – but it can certainly still be done. You don’t have to wait for spring to arrive to put your house on the market; in fact, selling during winter (particularly in the Tampa Bay area) can be very beneficial.

So what do you need to do to make your home stand out in a potentially crowded market?

4 Winter Home-Selling Tips from the Pros

  1. Make sure your home is inviting and cozy. If you have a fireplace, make the most of it. Add touches of wintry décor, but don’t go overboard with holiday-themed decorations; after all, you want your home to appeal to every potential buyer.
  2. Make the most of natural light. Raise the blinds, throw back the drapes and turn on interior lights wherever possible. Buyers want to see a bright, clean home, and of course, natural light is the way to go – but if you need to make up for a lack of natural light, invest in lamps or brighter overhead lighting. Make sure your windows are spotless, too, and that light fixtures are clean.
  3. Set timers on outdoor lights. Remember, some people will drive by at dusk or in the evening, so it’s best if your outdoor space is illuminated so potential buyers can see it at its best.
  4. Air out your home. While cooler temperatures may tempt you to close the windows, it’s always good to let in fresh air before a showing. Empty cat litter boxes and eliminate anything else that may have an unpleasant odor, as well.
