Boost Fall Curb Appeal to Sell Your Home Sell a Home in Tampa Bay

If you’re putting your home on the market and want to sell it before winter hits, you already know that you need to stage it properly and follow a number of other steps. However, how much have you thought about curb appeal?

Boost Your Curb Appeal With the Perfect Fall Plants

Unlike other places in the U.S., Central Florida is a great place to plant in the fall. Thriving plants can seriously boost your curb appeal, so if you want your home to look its best for potential buyers, a Sunday afternoon spent planting can have a big payoff.

October Planting in Central Florida

What to plant in October:

  • Agapanthus
  • Rain lily
  • Parsley
  • Strawberries
  • Holly

November Planting in Central Florida

What to plant in November:

  • Amaryllis
  • Crinum
  • Daylily
  • Thyme
  • Kale

Fertilizing and Other Appeal-Boosting Tricks

Fall is a great time to fertilize, especially if you’re using a controlled-release fertilizer that provides nutrients over a longer span of time. However, experts at the University of Florida say that November is the last month you should fertilize until spring.

Make sure you mow your lawn at the right height to keep it healthy, too.

  • Augustine and Bahia grasses: cut to 3 to 4 inches
  • Centipede grass: cut to 1.5 to 2 inches
  • Dwarf St. Augustine grass: cut to 2.5 inches

Watch out for pests that can destroy all your hard work, as well. During the fall, your outdoor space is susceptible to twig girdlers and mealybugs.
