Exchange Of Evidence Before Hearing With The Value Adjustment Board

Published On: April 4, 2018|Categories: Blog, Pasco County, Pinellas County, Taxes|Tags: |

If you’ve filed a petition to the Value Adjustment Board over property taxes or related issues, you must give the county’s appraiser a list, summary and documentation of all the evidence you intend to present at your hearing. The appraiser has evidence too, of course. So, if you want a copy of that evidence, just ask for it in writing. The appraiser must provide their evidence to you at least a week before your hearing. If they are late, you have a right to reschedule your hearing.

Also, keep in mind, if the appraiser wrote to you requesting specific evidence for the hearing, but you don’t provide it, you will not be allowed to use it as evidence during your hearing. If you get new evidence, you can still submit it before the hearing. If the appraiser needs more time to review it though, the county clerk can always reschedule your hearing. So, keep that in mind as well.
