If you’re like many home sellers, you know that an attractive yard tops the list of ways to boost your home’s curb appeal. However, Tampa’s warm springs and hot summers can pose a challenge for gardeners. To help you, we’ve put together a list of hardy and low-maintenance flowering plants that thrive in our part of the country.

Hot-Weather Flowers to Boost Your Curb Appeal

Golden Shrimp Plant

This hardy shrub grows to three or four feet, and features white flowers that bloom atop yellow bracts. Its size and long bloom season make it an ideal anchor planting for your landscape design.

Rain Lilies

Usually found in the native pink variety, some hybrids are available in white or other colors. This subtropical bulb grows to around 10 inches and tends to bloom after a rain—hence the name.

Egyptian Star Flowers

Also called “Egyptian star clusters” and “pentas,” these bloom year-round and will usually survive a light frost. These versatile flowers come in a variety of colors, and will attract butterflies and bees to your yard.

Crossandra

Does your yard have a shady spot that needs color? This is the perfect flower for areas that receive less than three to four hours of unfiltered sunlight per day. The “orange marmalade” variety is quite popular, but you can find Crossandra in other hues as well.
