Did you know that the State of Florida’s Property Tax Oversight (PTO) program maintains records of all local government tax levies? Indeed, it includes access to public tax roll data and reports related to property taxes in the whole state. It publishes the Florida Ad Valorem Valuation and Tax Data Book twice each year.
Are you already in a home? Do you feel like the assessor valued it incorrectly? You could appeal the assessed value, as noted in an earlier post. Remember, for assessment appeals, file your petition within 25 days after the property appraiser mails your Notice of Proposed Property Taxes (TRIM notice).
Value Adjustment Board In The State Of Florida
The Value Adjustment Board is separate from all local tax collection offices in the state. It lets property owners appeal their property values. It also lets them appeal a denial of an exemption or tax deferral too. If you feel you deserve an appeal, first contact our local tax collection office. But if that gets you nowhere, contact the Value Adjustment Board in our county.
