WM Recycle Tampa Back In Business After Fire

Tuesday at 10 a.m., WM Recycle Tampa held an open house and grand re-opening ribbon cutting ceremony. Nearly two months ago, a significant fire closed down the 68,000 square-foot Waste Management plant. Waste Management said that when people put the wrong items in their recycling bin, fires can start. They say that they’d like to educate people about why recycling properly is so important. They say that contamination is the most likely cause of the fire.

When non-recyclables like plastic bags, scrap metals or clothing are put in the improper bin, it’s a fire hazard for them at the plant. Residents should only include dry paper, cardboard, cans and bottles in the roadside recycle containers.

WM Recycle Tampa Tip: Recycling just one aluminum soda can saves enough energy to run a TV for two hours!
