You’re going to set aside a couple of hours for this task, so start by getting boxes you’ll use to pack away off-season clothes and fill with donations.

#3. Take all your storage boxes out of the closet.
If you have shoeboxes or storage containers in your closet, pull them out. Sort through each one and see if you can consolidate – and choose whether to donate or keep them. You’re not putting them back in that closet, though – the things you’re keeping but rarely use need to go into storage while your house is on the market.
#4. Put everything in its proper place.
After you’ve thinned out the clothing you’ll put back into the closet, put it all away. Group like items by color and keep it organized as you put it in there, too – buyers love seeing organization. If you have donation boxes or storage boxes, take care of them right away.
