The development company for Jeff Vinik and Cascade Investment just bought one the last remnants of heavy industry in Tampa. The ConAgra flour mill has been largely seen as contrasting with Water Street’s newer image. Water Street has become full of apartments, condos, offices and high-rise hotels. So, the three acre flour mill sat there clashing with the city’s view of an ideal Water Street.

The mayor says that the purchase of the flour mill is the last piece of the puzzle to bring the vision of what Water Street can become to fruition. Meanwhile, the 3 acre property will be perfect for the expansion of Water Street Tampa, a development that already had an estimated cost of $3 billion.
Extending Cumberland Avenue To S. Meridian Avenue
Part of the agreement that was struck when the land was sold includes the provision that Cumberland Avenue will be connected from Meridian to Brorein Avenue. This will help developers create a connected, walkable neighborhood!
