Florida First Time Driver Course

Are you a first time driver in Florida? Did you know that first time drivers must take a drug & alcohol course, a learner’s permit test? The exam and the course are mandatory for any first-time driver in the state.

Here’s the good news: You can take the course and exam online. This saves time over standing in line at the DMV. After you finish the course and exam, you can schedule a DMV appointment to practice driving!

Here’s what Florida requires:

A 4-Hour Florida Drug and Alcohol course. This course sometimes is called the DATA or Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education Course (TLSAE).
A Permit Exam, also called the written license exam.
