How To Decorate A Yard For Halloween

Some of the Halloween displays that people put up are amazing, but they may seem daunting to you when you try to figure out how to decorate your own yard. The truth is, you can decorate a yard for Halloween with minimal time or money – and it can be a fun thing for everyone involved! Think of it like Christmas – but replace the red and green with orange and white! You don’t even have to do a super-spooky theme if kids are involved. Use your imagination and let the creative juices flow!

How To Decorate A Yard For Halloween

  • Put some strands of orange lights on your bushes
  • Decorate a grapevine wreath for Halloween
  • Place pumpkins, cornstalks and hay bales strategically through your yard

You can order orange lights off amazons and place a few around your bushes, or you can go ahead and place white lights on your trees and bushes with a few orange strands thrown in. (Bonus: you’ll have white lights already up for Christmas!) Make sure the cords are tucked safely out of the path of any would-be little trick or treaters.

Grab a grapevine wreath (or two or four or six) and wrap them in orange ribbon with an orange bow. You can insert stalks of corn or dried mums and place them on your doors and windows. If you’re feeling particularly crafty, you can get a hot glue gun, available from a craft store, and glue pretty colored leaves or decorative tokens you find, like black cats, ghosts and goblins on your wreath.

Pumpkins, cornstalks and haybales can be used to create festive Halloween displays. Place pumpkins and gourds on top of hay bales. Lean some cornstalks (tied together with twine) at against a tree, and place some pumpkins of chrysanthemums at the bottom. You can decorate the pumpkins or leave them untouched for a rustic feel. It’s a good time to place a scarecrow in the yard as well! Happy Halloween!
