How to Stage Your Living Room

how to stage a living room - tampa bay homes for sale

Whether you have a golf course home for sale in Brandon, a condo for sale in New Port Richey, or a waterfront home for sale in Belleair Beach, you need to know how to stage your space so it’s as appealing as possible to potential buyers.

That includes your living room… but where do you start?

How to Stage Your Living Room

The first thing you need to do is clean your living room from top to bottom. Dust the corners, vacuum beneath the furniture, and polish the mantel.

Then, remove all excess furniture. If you have an odd ottoman, a comfortable-but-worn recliner, or a hand-me-down coffee table that looks a little bit awkward, take it out and put it in a storage unit until you sell your home.

Pull the remaining furniture away from the walls (many people mistakenly believe that pushing the furniture as close to the walls as possible makes each room look bigger, but that’s wrong – rooms look bigger when furniture is at least 6 inches off the walls).

Arrange chairs and sofas in conversational groups so potential buyers see your space as great for entertaining, and take down any eclectic décor that could cause a buyer to think twice about the people who currently own the home (that’s you!).
