Shep’s Beer Emporium Moving, But May Feature Beer Taps!

For more than 40 years, Shep’s Beer Emporium functioned as a convenience store turned craft beer shop at 2001 Fourth Street. Now, the business is moving. The new location hasn’t been decided, but reportedly have their eyes set on smaller spaces closer to downtown, according to Tampa Bay Times.

Shep’s is downsizing and potentially losing up to half of their selection. Though it seems that that is reasonable, considering at this point it offered more than a combined 1,500 a different meads, ciders and beers. Also, though it’s planned as a downsize, they may feature installed craft beer taps, which could be seen as a step up.

Doug Nelson, moderator of the Tampa Bay Beer Fort Facebook group, said, “I think they’ve sort of dialed in what the craft beer scene is looking for. Shep’s has been there the whole time of progression from nothing to what (the craft beer scene) is now.” He pointed out that even though the market is saturated, and Shep’s may cut back on the number of craft beers offered, the loyal clients will be sure to follow the place into this next step.
