St. Petersburg General Hospital Offers Robotic Surgery With New da Vinci® System
St. Petersburg General Hospital offers robotic assisted surgery via the new da Vinci® Si Surgical System. This system gives surgeons enhanced capabilities like high-definition 3D vision and magnified view. The surgeon is still needed, but the system uses the surgeon’s hand movements and translates them into more precise movements of tiny instruments. So, it’s not technically a robot. The benefit is precise surgery with fewer and smaller openings. This can help patients get back to daily life more quickly.
St. Petersburg General Hospital uses two of the da Vinci® Surgical Systems. They offer surgeons an alternative to both traditional open surgery and conventional laparoscopy. The hospital can use this technology in many areas of surgery including the following areas:
