When people say they hate doing laundry, they probably don’t really hate doing laundry. Let’s be honest, there’s not much that is painful about gathering up dirty clothes, throwing them in the washing machine, setting on a wash setting, throwing in some smell-good detergent and fabric softener, and push the start button. Nobody hates that! However, what comes next, people start to not like so much. Especially when they go to put the wet clothes in the dryer and the dryer is full of clothes that may be full of clothes that are or are not dry. What to do now? Run the clothes in the dryer some more to get the wrinkles out? Take the clothes out and throw them in a crumpled heap in a laundry basket while you put the wet clothes in their place? Alas, there’s a much easier way.
Three Ways To Get Your Laundry Put Away Effortlessly
- Have clothes hangers and a hanging rack in the laundry room
- Fold towels into thirds immediately out of the dryer
- Place socks flat on a card table in the laundry room

Fold towels into thirds as soon as they come out of the dryer. They are easier to work with when they are warm, and you can stack them easily, and taken them to your bathroom or linen closet shelf. No more struggling through hours of folding towels – the same trick works with blankets and sheets!
Place socks flat on a table as you pull them out of the dryer. Then, when you are done, you can quick match them up and deliver them to their perspective drawers.
Any other clothes you have hanging around – pajamas, for example – will seem like far less of a burden because the majority of the load will already be dealt with. Simply fold them up and take them to their drawer. Then you can enjoy the freedom of an empty dryer every time you need one!
