Zephyrhills City Council Will Pave Road To Help Development Plans
The Zephyrhills City Council agreed to take over the project of paving Simons Road. Simons road is a dirt connector between Eiland Boulevard and Fort King Road. Paving this road will improve access to a medical clinic and hopefully spur development and make the construction of a planned tennis center go more smoothly.
At one point, developer David Waronker was supposed to pave it under the deal with The Cottages at Silver Oaks and Golf View Cottages at Silver Oaks. The deal was that the developer would improve Simons Road in exchange for the city waving impact fees.
With the new agreement in place, developers will pay for the road design and engineering. The city will in turn gain eight acres of land along Simons which will be used for a tennis center. Plus, the developer of the Cottages will pay $500 per unit in impact fees for this tennis center.
The city agreed to take over the paving project, because they couldn’t wait any longer. Much development was hindered while waiting for the road to be paved.
The Florida Medical Clinic facility, which will benefit from the improvements at Eiland and Simons, will also pay $140,000 for intersection improvements.
